City of New Martinsville Small Business Building Beautification Grants

The American Rescue Plan Act has provided the City of New Martinsville with $2.2 million in direct federal aid monies to be used to assist the New Martinsville Community in its recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic. These funds can be used to respond to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic to replace lost public revenues, support economic stabilization, and make necessary investments in water-sewer and broadband infrastructure. A portion of the City of New Martinsville’s funding has been distributed, via grants, to qualifying small businesses and non-profit organizations. Forty-one New Martinsville small businesses and twelve non-profit organizations have received varying amounts that total over half a million dollars.
This grant funding opportunity focuses on beautifying the small business’s building. For example, painting, sidewalk replacement, new storm door, flooring, etc. Private homes are not eligible for his grant. This grant can not be retroactive for projects that have already been completed or have commenced.
To be eligible for this grant, the small business must be located within the New Martinsville City limits must have a valid City of New Martinsville business license and must be current on all City, B&O, State, and Federal Tax fillings, must be open to the public and be independently owned and operated (chain businesses are not eligible for this program). Depending on the number of eligible applications, grant award amounts are anticipated to be between $2,500 and $10,000. Grant awards will be announced by mid-November.
Applications are available at the City of New Martinsville Recorder’s Office located at 191 Main Street. The completed application is due back to the Recorder’s Office on or before 4:00 PM Friday, October 14, 2022.
